1st Step for applying for an English Teaching position with CDI Korea:

To apply for one of our English teaching jobs in Busan, South Korea, please send us an email as your initial contact with an attached resume and recent photo to recruitingcdi@gmail.com

[For English Teaching candidates in South Korea, please call us at 051.552.9407 and send us an email as well providing your contact information as well.  A resume and recent photo would be handy of course, along with being a mandatory part of the application process to become a CDI Teacher. ]

**Additionally, to secure an E2 working visa, the Republic of Korea now requires you to obtain a notarized or Apostillized Criminal Background Check (or Criminal Record Check) in your respective state or country.

Due to the potential delays in securing the Criminal Record Check, if you haven’t already checked in the process for securing a (1) Criminal Record Check or Criminal Background Check with your state or country of residence, we highly encourage you to contact the local police/RCMP authorities to ask about how to obtain a Criminal Background Check report as quickly as possible. Please refer to the following page for potential locations (via each state) to contact in the United States and for a few other locales. If the resources are not up to date or not applicable, please conduct a search online for “Criminal Record Check [State or Country]” or “Criminal Background Check [State or Country].” (2) The process also includes a notarization of either an Apostille stamp (which most countries except Canada are required) or the local Korean Embassy/Consulate (mainly Canadians). Please visit this page for potential Apostille locations to obtain this notarization of your Criminal Record/Background Check or for Korean consulates If the resources are not up to date or not applicable, please conduct a search online for “Apostille [State or Country].”

5th Step in securing your year abroad with CDI in South Korea:

While your visa documents are being processed, you’ll want to secure a flight due to the timely need in securing a flight for your departure. We will coordinate a date most likely, but it can be estimated as the a Sunday approximately 2 weeks after you have sent your documents. For a more safe time frame, you can estimate it to be 3 weeks after your documents have been sent. It is important to note when your visa documents will arrive in South Korea since there are multiple options in sending your documents. If you choose the more economical, chances are it will get here later most likely and you’ll want to pad your time on your estimate.

ALSO, you’ll want to schedule an interview for the week prior to departure with the local Korean consulate or embassy and it may be wise to get in contact with them earlier as well to hopefully develop a decent rapport.  The earlier during the week for your appointment with the Korean consulate, the better to prevent any possibility of NOT receiving your visa on time before departure. Some Consulates will say they need 3 days to get your passport back. We’ve seen many get it by the next day.  However, it is wise to check out the idiosyncrasies of your local Korean consulate.
