Directions

Directions to the 6 branches of Chung Dahm Institute (CDI) in Busan:

**Note: please use the map of the Busan subway system below to make sense of these directions.

Busanjin’s Branch

Take Line #2 (the green line) to the subway stop Dongeui University (just west of Seomyun station). Walk out exit #7 towards Homeplus (which is like 3+ blocks away, but that general direction — NOT the direction of Seomyun or you’ll know you’re going the wrong direction if you start to see you’re walking underneath a highway above you). If you’re walking the right direction, just walk for about 20 meters and you should see the Chung Dahm Institute sign’s ( it’s 정담어학권 in Hangul) hanging over the right of a (at least) 4 story building. The big blue emblem will be on the glass doors.

Dongnae’s Branch (sometimes spelled “Dongrae” which is the true translation from Hangul to English):

From the East part of Busan:

Take the green line (line 2) towards Suyeong. It’s the transfer point for Line 2 & Line 3. It goes from Suyeong to Daejeo. Transfer from line #2 to line #3 heading west. You’ll want to get off at Yeonsan-dong (4 stops after Suyeong). Transfer there to line #1 heading north. Two stops later, you’ll hit Dongnae & walk out exit #1.

As you walk out exit #1, you’ll see a large road in front of you, take the immediate left out the exit & you’ll see a large crosswalk to cross the large road. Take that across (of course, when the green light is on ;) and walk straight down the other large road (that’s usually packed with traffic). Walk about 1 1/2 blocks passing a large BBQ restaurant on your right with an underground parking lot. The 2nd building after that (I believe) is a bluish/white triangular building. The large (blue/white) Chung Dahm Institute (CDI) sign should be hanging over the left of the building — it’s 정담어학권 in Hangul. There is a large Persian Carpet business on the first floor.

You have to walk around the building veering a sharp right after you get to the end of the building because the entrance is on the other side with the street that criss crosses the main street at like a 30 degree angle. Take the entrance/stairwell up to the 2nd floor and mention who you are to the Korean staff — perhaps look for Donna, Jeon ( a.k.a. “John”) or Jay. Jareb may be down there too, but he’s probably going to be on the 4th floor in his classroom (first one to the left after walking up 3 flights to the 4th floor).

From the West part of Busan:

Do the same as above after reaching Yeonsan-dong station from whatever point you’re at. Hopefully, you start on Line #1 and you don’t have to do any transferring, but if you need to, both Yeonsan-dong and Seomyun are your transfer points from either Line #2 or Line #3.

Gwangan’s Branch (sometimes spelled “Kwangan” which is the true translation from Hangul to English):

Get off the Gwangan station and walk up exit #6. After exiting #6, take an about face heading a 180 degrees backwards the opposite direction walking for about 10-15 meters. You’ll see a large modern looking building to your left and before you walk across the cross walk, you will take the small walkway into the building to an elevator or if you walk around the building to the other elevator on the other side, you’re good too. However, do not take the elevator for the residents of the building which is in the middle of the building since it may NOT stop at the 4th floor where the Academy is.

Getting off the 4th floor, it should be somewhat apparent where the Academy is. If not, please call TBD. There is Restaurant franchise business on the same floor as of this writing in October 2007.

Hwamyung’s Branch

Take subway line #2 towards Hopo to Hwamyeong Station #235. Walk out exit #1.
After 20 meters you come will to an intersection. Turn right and go to the end of the block (Lotte Mart will be on your right). Cross the street and walk down the block. At the end of the block you will see Dunkin Dognuts at the corner. Cross the street again and walk to the end of the next block. CDI Hwamyeong on the 7th floor of the last building at the end of this block on the right. The entrance to the building is between a KTF phone store and Sagakin Toastie Shop. It less than a five minute walk from the subway station.

Saha’s Branch

Take the subway line #1 and get off at Dangni station. It’ll take you 35 minutes from Seomyeon.

Take Exit 5, walk up the stairs and straight along the street in the same direction that you exit. Walk until the first real intersection (a crossroad) and the branch is clearly visible on the corner, 3rd floor. Along the way, on the same side of the road you’ll pass a Nonghyup Bank and a KB Bank. It’s about 150-200m from the subway exit, located exactly above a KIA Motors store.

Directions to the Guseo CDI April English branch: Take the main subway line (# 1) to the Guseo-dong stop (130). Walk out of exit #3 and take an immediate right out of the exit. Walk up the small street for about 100 steps. After passing the Family Mart on the left hand side, take an immediate left up the street for a little more than a block with the big E-Mart to your right. You will start to see a big green sign on the first floor of a building ahead of you with the title “CDI April English” on it.

Directions to the Centum City CDI April English branch:

By subway: take the #2 line to the Centum City/Busan Museum of Modern Art stop. Take exit 8 and continue walking straight. It will be downthe street on your right in a building called HaeundaeMedical Center. There is a sign on the side of thebuilding that says April English. The school is on the 3rd floor.
